About the book
Holes in the Soul
A hole is something negative experienced in life that hasn’t been effectively managed that causes one to continually make bad choices. A small sampling of the holes that many people wrestle with on a daily basis is abandonment, molestation, lack of love, rape, fear, rejection, and death. This list is in no way exhaustive because the inventory of holes is innumerable and difficult to categorize.
Many people do not want to admit they have holes in their souls. Others are not aware that holes exist in their lives. Still, some are vaguely aware but are not sure what to call the emptiness they feel. They only know something is missing and whatever it is, keeps them from being complete.
Contrary to popular belief, holes do not only occur in other people, although they are usually more recognizable in others. A hole doesn’t care if you are black or white, gay or straight, short or tall, cute or ugly, skinny or fat, young or old, rich or poor. A quick look at the various media outlets: television, radio, magazines, movies, social sites, etc., and you will see that the actors and actresses, singers, songwriters and other star personalities that people often hold in high regards, have holes, too.
How can this be possible? They look clean and polished. They are the epitome of perfection. They have access to the best of the best. The drive the best cars, wear the best clothes, live in the best houses, dine in the best restaurants, but if we were to take a peek into their lives, we will discover that many of them have sold out and sold the most valuable of possessions (themselves) to get to that level. Many of them, like many of us common everyday people, have allowed external things like drugs and alcohol to over take them. Incidentally, the use of illegal drugs and the overuse of alcohol are indicators of the presence of a hole.
